Introduction to Ayurveda : Finding Your Unique Balance :

This 2.5 hour workshop is all about Ayurveda, the ancient healing system from India that is complementary to Yoga.  During this workshop you will learn more about your unique doshic balance and simple ways to incorporate Ayurvedic routines into your daily life to achieve better body awareness and enhance your sense of well-being.  We will also cover Ayurvedic approaches to the current common seasonal ailments and simple yoga postures to balance the doshas.  You will leave with a better understanding of the basics of Ayurveda and a new way of viewing your body and your environment.

Introduction to Ayurvedic Skincare :

The skin is our largest organ, and as the protective layer between our internal and external environments it can take a lot of abuse.  This workshop will introduce ways to nourish and nurture the skin from an Ayurvedic perspective including a discussion of Ayurvedic doshas and dhatus in relation to the skin.  We will also review the western perspective of the biology of skin along with why natural skin care is so important to the body’s overall health.  Finally we will talk about healthy versus detrimental skin care ingredients and the application of those healthy ingredients through abhyanga (massaging oil or lotion into the skin).  Students will leave the workshop with a better understanding of why nurturing the skin is so important to overall health and how to be better care for our body's largest organ.  This is a 2.5 hour workshop.

Gentle Detox Workshop :

This workshop guides you through a gentle detoxification process over the course of several weeks.  It is a six week workshop that meets weekly for 1.5 hours.  Each session will include a lecture and yoga practice, gently building a total body detoxification program. If you feel fatigued, your digestion is sluggish, or you seem to catch every cold that comes your way, your body may be overloaded with daily toxins. Using principles from Yoga and Ayurveda, we will learn ways to hit the 'reset' button for our bodies and minds as we move forward. The cost of the workshop includes six 1.5 hour classes; you will also receive a grocery list of additional items that will support your cleansing process.

Autumn Grounding:

In this two and a half hour workshop we will explore the question: what does being ‘grounded’ actually mean? ‘Grounded’ is one of those words that sounds really nice, especially in the context of a yoga class, but what does it actually mean? More importantly, what does it actually feel like in real life? Here’s a sneak peak: feeling grounded reduces stress, increases your sense of purpose, and is great for balancing the mind and body on and off the mat. The workshop will combine yoga, pranayama (breathing), herbal oils, marma points, aromatherapy, meditation, and time for reflection and discussion during a tea social to demystify feeling ‘grounded’ and give you the tools to recreate that feeling in your yoga practice and your life. You will be applying herbal oil to your arms, legs, and feet before shavasana, so please wear clothing that you do not mind getting oil on and either loose pants that can be rolled up or shorts. Please also bring a pen or pencil, two old towels, and a mug to enjoy some kombucha. Offered in the fall.
